Everything to sort before you fly. Tick it off and your only job on arrival is to enjoy China. Questions any time — message your planner.
Summer (Jun–Aug) — hot and humid in most cities. Pack light, breathable cotton/linen, a sun hat, sunglasses and strong SPF. A light layer for fierce air-conditioning. Tibet & Yunnan highlands stay cool at night — bring one warm layer.
Autumn (Sep–Nov) — the prime season: mild days, cool evenings. Pack layers, a light jacket and comfortable walking shoes. Northern China (Beijing, Xi'an, Datong) turns cold by late November.
Winter (Dec–Feb) — cold to freezing in the north and on the plateau. Pack a warm coat, thermal base layers, gloves, hat and scarf. The south (Yunnan, Guilin, Jiangnan) is milder but damp — waterproof shoes help.
Spring (Mar–May) — pleasant but changeable. Pack layers, a light waterproof and an umbrella. Mornings can be chilly; afternoons warm.
Pack in layers and a light waterproof — China spans many climates. Once your dates are set we'll tailor this to your exact route and season.
