Three operational commitments — verifiable, not branding
We don't sell sustainability as a marketing line. We commit operationally to three things every booking honours: direct payment to local suppliers at rates that respect their practice, small private group sizes that protect cultural sites, and an annual public community report. This page explains the specifics.
Commitment 1 · Direct payment, above-market rates. ICH master sessions on our routes pay the master directly — not through a Western intermediary or a Chinese tour-bus operator. The session rate is set above local market rate to recognise that master practice is rare, irreplaceable, and undercompensated. Master Yao (Suzhou silk), Master Qi (West Lake Longjing), Master Wang (Jingdezhen porcelain) all receive direct payment + repeat bookings.
Commitment 2 · Small private group sizes. Every ChinaTourly journey is private — no group departures, no group-tour bus stops at popular sites. Our maximum party size is 12 (extended family milestone scenarios); typical party is 2-6. This protects sites like Jiuzhaigou alpine pools and Mogao Caves Tang-dynasty murals from the over-tourism damage that group-bus operators cause.
Commitment 3 · Community report annually. Each calendar year we publish a transparent report of how booking revenue flowed to local suppliers and master inheritors. First report due Q1 2027 covering 2026 calendar year.
Direct payment to master inheritors at above-market rates. Small private groups. Annual public community report. Operationally verifiable, not slogan.
