Trust & Recognition · Our Guarantee

Six commitments we make on every booking

Trust is the only meaningful product in private travel. Every ChinaTourly booking carries six explicit commitments: private travel always, senior guide threshold, hotel category match, restaurant anchor delivery, transport mode discipline, and recovery commitment when something goes wrong. Each is operational — not a marketing slogan.

Six commitments, each operationally defined

We commit to six things on every booking, each with operational specifics. Below is what each commitment actually means in practice — not in marketing copy.

Commitment 1 · Private travel always. No group departures. No fixed bus schedules. No merchandise stops. No commission-driven restaurant routing. Every guide, driver, transfer, and reservation is yours alone. This includes Bespoke briefs that must run on specific dates.

Commitment 2 · Senior guide threshold. All ChinaTourly guides on routes carry seven-plus years of practice in their working city. New guides apprentice for two years before solo assignment. Senior guides are on retainer — not commission-driven freelancers swapped between operators.

Commitment 3 · Hotel category match. Every itinerary specifies hotels by exact name. If the booked property cannot deliver on the dates (over-booking, force majeure, renovation), we substitute up — never down. Substitution must be at or above the booked tier and is communicated in writing before check-in.

Commitment 4 · Restaurant anchor delivery. Each itinerary specifies anchor restaurants (typically one or two per day). These are confirmed at booking, re-confirmed 14 days before travel, and a backup anchor identified for force-majeure scenarios. If a booked anchor closes unexpectedly, your guide handles a tier-matched substitution on the day.

Commitment 5 · Transport mode discipline. Routes specify mode per leg (G-train business class, internal flight, private car). Substitutions only when objectively forced (cancellations, force majeure) and only at or above the booked class. We document mode and class for every leg in your route documentation.

Commitment 6 · Recovery commitment. If something goes wrong on the trip — sickness, weather, vehicle, hotel, restaurant — your guide and the regional dispatch team handle recovery within 24 hours. For force-majeure cancellations of major route components, we offer credit toward future travel or refund per the original payment schedule.

Six commitments. Each operationally defined. None of them marketing slogans.

Recovery in practice · October 2025 Tibet

An actual incident and how the protocol worked.

What happens when something genuinely goes wrong
Commitment 6 · Recovery in practice

What happens when something genuinely goes wrong

October 2025: a Tibet route encountered a vehicle breakdown 4 hours into the Lhasa-Shigatse leg. The senior guide called regional dispatch within 10 minutes. Replacement vehicle dispatched from Shigatse and met the group at the next service station within 90 minutes. The afternoon itinerary was preserved by shifting the Tashilhunpo Monastery visit to morning Day 4 instead of evening Day 3.

The clients received written summary of the incident and the recovery within 48 hours. No additional charges. The Tashilhunpo session was actually better — morning light over the monastery is preferred by senior guides and we usually book it that way already; the swap forced something we should have done from the start.

Recovery is operational discipline, not marketing copy. Every regional team has dispatch escalation protocols.

Four commitments in detail

Each with operational specifics.

Commitment 1 · Private

No groups · no commission routing

Standard operating

Every guide, driver, transfer, restaurant reservation is yours alone. No exception. Including Bespoke briefs that must run on specific dates — they still operate as private travel for your party only.

  • No group departures
  • No commission routing
  • Bespoke runs private
Commitment 2 · Senior guide

7+ years · retained

Quality threshold

Seven-plus years practice in working city. Retainer-based — not freelance. Two-year apprenticeship before solo assignment. Specific guide can be requested for confirmed Bespoke; standard Signature assignment by route region and party fit.

  • 7+ years threshold
  • Retainer not commission
  • 2-year apprenticeship
Commitment 3 · Hotel category match

Exact property · substitution up only

Written notice

Itinerary specifies hotels by name. If substitution required, must be at or above tier with written notice before check-in. We do not 'maybe' on hotels — every booking is confirmed inventory.

Honest answers about commitments

What if the booked hotel doesn't deliver on my dates?

We substitute up — never down. The substitute must be at or above booked tier (matching standards from Aman/Rosewood/Mandarin Oriental for that segment). You receive written notice before check-in. This is operational discipline, not negotiation.

What if my guide doesn't show?

Backup senior guide dispatched from regional team within 60 minutes. Has not happened in years of operation but the protocol exists. Replacement guide carries same 7+ year practice threshold; not a junior substitution.

What about force-majeure cancellations (weather, earthquake, political event)?

Credit toward future travel within 24 months, or refund per original payment schedule. The choice is yours. We document force-majeure events with regional authorities; insurance handles costs not covered by us.

Are these commitments contractually binding?

Yes — they're written into the booking confirmation document each client signs. The six commitments above are summary; full contract language is detailed in the booking pack.
